2 Effective Methods For Treating Mosquitos

Posted on

If you have a mosquito issue, then it is going to be in your best interest to get rid of the mosquitoes as soon as possible. Not only are mosquito bites painful and, if allergic, cause you to swell up to huge proportions, but they can also carry horrible diseases such as the West Nile Virus. Thankfully, there are multiple different methods that are used for treating mosquitoes that can effectively remove them from a large radius. This is going to be incredibly helpful and beneficial, especially if you are trying to get rid of mosquitoes in your yard and surrounding property. This article will discuss 2 methods that are effective for removing and otherwise treating mosquitoes.

Source Reduction

If you have an infestation of mosquitoes, they are likely coming from one or more sources. This area is likely going to be an area where there is standing water. This may be a pond that is stagnant, a storm water drain that is full, clogged gutters that are full of water, or anywhere else where water is standing. Because of this, you are going to want to get rid of any and all standing water that you can. For things like ponds, you are going to want to treat them for various diseases and bacteria, and you will simply want to clean up the other forms of standing water. This is going to eliminate a spot for the mosquitoes to breed, thus helping to reduce their numbers.

Mosquito Traps

Another effective method for reducing or eliminating mosquitoes is to set up multiple mosquito traps. These traps come in many shapes and sizes, but their main goal is to attract mosquitoes and either trap them or kill them. The traps themselves are going to be made for either the indoors or the outdoors, so you aren't going to have to worry them getting damaged by the different elements. You can also find traps that are made to stand on the ground, as well as others that are meant for hanging from your porch, trees, etc. Using traps, along with getting rid of the source of the mosquitoes, is going to be a very effective treatment combination because removing the source will stop the mosquitoes from breeding and the traps will kill all of the mosquitoes that still remain.
